My husband and I both have one or two congenitally missing teeth, otherwise known as hypodontia.  While my grandfather’s baby tooth lasted his whole life (80+ years!), my baby tooth had had enough during my third pregnancy and I’m now looking at an implant to fill that space where my permanent tooth never formed.  I really wanted my children to avoid this problem!

My 10 year old just had her first set of bite-wing x-rays at her dental appointment. I was delighted to hear that they could see every one of her permanent teeth!  Phew!  This is also the daughter with dairy tolerance issues so we’ve spent her whole life trying to insure adequate bone building nutrients like vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, etc through dairy she does tolerate, green veggies, and even supplements (especially after her bilateral displaced fractures from gymnastics).

I couldn’t contain my excitement and happily told the dentist that he just made my day!  He got a big smile on his face and responded that he doesn’t get to hear that all the time so I had just made his day too!

Win, win!

Now back to cheese, yogurt, broccoli, kale, sesame…
